Meet Your Staff! Our personal Stock Market guru, resident Los Arboles historian, and the Social Science teacher every 8th grader gets the pleasure of knowing Ms. Flanders! Ms. Flanders is much more than the teacher at the front of the room. She provides a tutorial space—for students AND staff. The kind of person you can walk into a room with a question, an idea, a problem, or a “Can I run something by you?” and know she’ll make space for it. For our students, that means a teacher who challenges them to think, ask questions, make connections, and understand the world around them. For our staff, it means having a colleague whose knowledge, experience, and willingness to help make all of us a little better. We’re lucky Ms. Flanders calls LAMS home. Kaw kaw!   There is something powerful about hearing Spanish greetings exchanged in the hallways each morning, seeing students and staff proudly wearing Mexican-affiliated shirts on Mexican Independence Day last week, and watching culture show up naturally throughout our campus. Hispanic heritage is not simply something we recognize during a designated month—it is woven into the voices, traditions, families, staff, and students who shape our school community every day. Our Monday Bilingual Lunch Club creates another space for students to connect through language, celebrate culture, and strengthen that sense of belonging. We’re especially looking forward to seeing their Día de Muertos ofrenda come together with Student Voice and our WEB Leaders this October.  LAMS 2026 PBIS California State Recognition - We are PLATINUM! For another year in a row, Los Arboles continues to soar by creating opportunities, building safe spaces for mistakes, and turning those challenging moments into opportunities to learn and grow. From our students to our staff, it all comes together because of the incredible support of our falcon families. Platinum isn’t just an award—it’s a reflection of the community we continue to build together. Thank you to our PBIS Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 teams that made this possible. MPUSD No Longer Allows Outside Food Vendor Deliveries to Schools (Uber Eats, DoorDash, etc.) At MPUSD, the health, safety, and well-being of every student is a priority of our district and schools. In recent years, we have seen an increase in outside food delivery programs (Uber Eats, DoorDash, etc.) bringing food to students during the school day. This has caused significant disruption in a variety of ways. As a reminder the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District no longer allows outside food delivery to school campuses from delivery service companies. Attendance matters! Research shows that every day your scholar is in school increases their success in the classroom and beyond. Each week our goal is to have 95% attendance. So did we meet our goal on the first week?
Yes, we actually exceeded our goal of 95% with 95.33% present this past week! We've done it again! We have met our goal five times in seven weeks! Can we repeat and meet our goal this week? Let's find out. Kaw kaw!
Here's a resource for when to send your student to school and when to keep them home. MPUSD Health and Wellness. Please remember to communicate your student’s absence by 9 a.m. each day. You can either leave a voicemail to excuse your student's absence by calling (831) 384-3550 select option 1 for Attendance Clerk Ms. Gonzalez. Or You can text Ms. Gonzalez using your phone as well. Just enter her email address in your phone's text field and text us your student’s full name and reason for absence. Try it out!
